The National Economic Council (NEC) has endorsed a 90-day economic action plan designed to alleviate the cost of living, enhance food affordability and draw investment. The plan covers areas such as tax harmonisation, high-impact projects, investment barriers and regulated household support. Vice President Kashim Shettima encouraged state governors to ensure the advantages of these reforms reach common Nigerians.

Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, Seyi Makinde, defended his decision to challenge a sitting president from the South-West in the 2027 election. Makinde pointed to the 1999 precedent when the South-West backed both Olusegun Obasanjo and Olu Falae for the presidency, asserting that the region could present multiple candidates without compromising its interests.
