Mumbai: In response to frequent technical issues with its 101 emergency helpline, the Mumbai Fire Brigade has added five new phone numbers for citizens to contact in case of service disruptions. The additional numbers are 9076333101, 9076333102, 9076333103, 9076333104, and 9076333105. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) introduced these backups to ensure uninterrupted emergency response.
The 101 helpline has been plagued by recurring technical glitches, and repair delays have exacerbated the problem. The new lines aim to prevent delays in reaching the Fire Brigade during emergencies and relieve pressure on the main control room, which currently handles over 15,000 calls annually. Citizens are urged to use these alternative numbers when the 101 helpline is down.
The Fire Brigade is responsible for protecting lives and property from fires and other emergencies across Mumbai.
