Major Power Plant Goes Offline

The Hub Power Company Limited (PSX: HUBC) announced a significant electrical fault in Unit 1 of the main transformer at the China Power Hub Generation Company Limited (CPHGC) on October 21. This fault has led to the unit being taken out of service for investigation and repair. HUBCO disclosed that the impacted plant consists of two coal-fired power generation units, together delivering a combined capacity of about 660 megawatts.

The plant also features an integrated coal jetty and is situated in Hub Tehsil, Gaddani, within Lasbela District, Balochistan. CPHGC operates this plant as a joint venture between Hub Power Holdings Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of HUBCO, and China Power International (Pakistan) Investment Limited. HUBCO confirmed that Unit 1 will remain offline for the duration of the investigation and repair procedures.
