«L’era della co-intelligenza»: al via la quarta edizione di Orizzonti Digitali

The fourth edition of Orizzonti Digitali, the Confindustria Umbria forum focused on artificial intelligence, will take place from October 21 to 24 in the historical center of Perugia (and partly in Terni), in theaters, historic palaces, and conference halls. This year, the forum assumes national significance, thanks to the scientific direction granted by Giorgio Metta, scientific director of the Italian Institute of Technology, and the Rai media partnership.

With 49 panels, 200 Italian and international speakers, and over 5,000 registered attendees, the forum is the only event in Italy that combines three key features: it features expert speakers who use accessible language, appeals to a diverse audience including businesses, public administration, the elderly, and the disabled, and is entirely free of charge.

The speakers include young professionals such as computational neuroscientist Giulio Deangeli, who applies AI to biological science and medicine; Mit researcher Cosimo Accoto, who examines AI from philosophical, technological, economic, and organizational perspectives; pharmacologist Marco Devivo, working on a drug for autism; and Olympic athlete Eloisa Coiro, who uses AI for training.

Organizers emphasize their goal to understand AI and make it a valuable asset for Umbria and Italy. Confindustria Umbria, led by President Giammarco Urbani, has been actively involved in digital innovation for years, establishing the first Digital Innovation Hub in Italy in 2017 and becoming the only territorial association of the Confindustria system to manage PNRR-funded technology transfer interventions in collaboration with the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, worth 4.5 million euros.

This involvement has enabled Confindustria Umbria to assist 315 small and medium-sized enterprises, 29 large companies, and 7 public organizations through a total of 501 services, ranging from digital maturity assessments to technology experimentation before investment, training, and specialized consultation. The association now aims to strengthen this support for innovation and competitiveness in the Umbria industrial system by creating an AI hub, a project set to launch at the beginning of 2027, as a further step in spreading new technologies among businesses and the region.
