Joel Embiid’s ‘miserable’ confession that shows exactly why Philly needed LeBron James, Jaylen Brown

The Philadelphia 76ers secured a decisive win against the defending champion New York Knicks, a victory that aligns perfectly with Joel Embiid's aspirations. Embiid, a multiple-time NBA All-Star, has already claimed the MVP title; however, his ultimate ambition lies in clinching an NBA Championship. In an insightful feature for The Athletic, penned by David Aldridge, Embiid opened up about a challenging period in his career marked by recurrent injuries.

He candidly expressed his misery and depression during these times, stating, "I went through a period the last few years, obviously, I’ve come down with injuries. I just hated coming into the gym." Despite acknowledging that his own attitude was largely responsible for his misfortune, Embiid emphasized the value of having veteran players around him to provide motivation and support.

He singled out Jaylen Brown and LeBron James as players who could instill a sense of accountability and drive among his teammates. Embiid highlighted Brown's ability to hold his teammates accountable, recognizing that they had already achieved significant milestones and were capable of pushing the team further. This revelation sheds light on why the 76ers' acquisition of veteran talent like Brown and James was crucial for Embiid's journey towards winning an NBA Championship.
