Segun Sowunmi, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has criticized National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) Hakeem Baba-Ahmed for labeling President Bola Tinubu as a failure. During an interview on Vanguard's Politics Hub, Sowunmi dismissed Baba-Ahmed's remarks, branding him a "Northern kid." Sowunmi, who hails from Kaduna, expressed concern over the development of the North and questioned why resources allocated to the region have not yielded positive results.
He urged Northern leaders to focus on their own actions rather than blaming Tinubu, citing the legacies of past leaders like Tafawa Balewa and Ahmadu Bello. Sowunmi further stated that Baba-Ahmed does not represent the entire North and referred to him as a "rabble-rousing little rat."
