HashiCorp released Terraform Google Cloud Provider 8.0 in general availability

On Tuesday morning, Google Cloud reported that it had resolved an outage affecting its UK cloud infrastructure, which had caused issues for UK banks, businesses, and the courts. The disruption originated from a power event at one of its smaller data centre zones in London, known as europe-west2-b. Popular UK platforms and services, including Royal Mail, DPD, and e-bike service Forest, experienced problems. The HM Courts and Tribunals Service also confirmed an issue with the video platform used for remote hearings.

Banks, particularly Lloyds Bank, HSBC, and Revolut, were among the most affected, with customers reporting difficulties in accessing funds, completing property purchases, and using online banking services. Rachael Ellen, a Revolut customer from Glasgow, shared her experience of being unable to pay for parking and view transactions on the app due to the outage. Over 1,500 reports of issues affecting Revolut services were flagged to platform outage monitor shortly after 08:00 BST on Tuesday.

Google Cloud expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and thanked customers for their patience. They stated that services had been restored and would publish an analysis of the incident on their service health dashboard. The company urged customers to access its dashboard for updates on the global status of its cloud services.
