Hankook Tire expands EV partnership with Volkswagen compact vehicles

Hankook Tire is expanding its electric vehicle partnership with Volkswagen, supplying specialized tires for two upcoming compact EV models. The German automaker aims to grow its electric vehicle lineup with these new offerings. Hankook Tire & Technology, a subsidiary of Hankook & Company Group, will provide the tires as original equipment on the Volkswagen ID.

Polo and ID. Cross. Both vehicles are based on Volkswagen Group's next-generation MEB+ electric vehicle platform and are designed to make electric mobility more accessible to a wider audience. The ID. Polo, a production version of the ID. 2all concept, serves as an electric counterpart to Volkswagen's existing Polo model. Meanwhile, the ID.

Cross is a compact sport utility vehicle targeted at urban drivers. Hankook Tire will supply 18-inch iON evo summer tires for the ID. Polo, as well as 17-inch iON i*cept winter tires for the same vehicle. For the ID. Cross, the company will provide 17-inch and 19-inch iON evo tires. The iON Innovative Technology utilized in these products aims to strike a balance between low road noise, extended tread life, superior grip, and reduced rolling resistance.
