Utku Bengisu, a prominent Turkish businessman and President of the World Cooperation Industries Forum, has highlighted Ghana as a strategic entry point for foreign investors looking to access the African market. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Istanbul, Mr. Bengisu emphasized Ghana's strong democratic values, peaceful environment, and stable institutional framework as key factors that make it an attractive destination for business and investment.

In his words, Ghana serves as a "good starting point" for those seeking to explore the African market, likening it to an African university. He further pointed out that Ghana's vibrant business ecosystem and thriving sector-specific trade associations in areas such as construction, agriculture, mining, and decoration present numerous opportunities for foreign investors to forge lasting partnerships.

A notable aspect of Ghana's business culture, according to Mr. Bengisu, is the widespread use of business cards, making networking more efficient for investors. The Ghana Free Zones Authority, he praised, has been instrumental in promoting investments and implementing strategic programs.

While acknowledging the importance of Ghana's business hubs like Accra, Mr. Bengisu also called for the expansion of industrial and economic zones beyond the national capital. He pointed out that while commercial centers in Accra are well known, several regions with significant economic potential remain underutilised.

To unleash Ghana's agricultural and industrial potential, Mr. Bengisu urged the Government to engage Turkish Airlines in establishing direct flights to Kumasi. He proposed an initial weekly schedule of three flights and suggested the establishment of a second Ghanaian consulate in Turkey, ideally located in industrial cities such as Izmir or Kayseri.

This move, he argued, would complement the existing diplomatic presence in Istanbul and facilitate investment missions, thereby strengthening business links across Ghana, including regions like Kumasi, Cape Coast, and others.
