‘Corporate Ghana must step up’ – Bel Aqua urges business community to invest in youth mental health
Corporate Ghana is being challenged to step up investment in mental health support for young people facing depression, grief, and societal pressures, warning that many lack safe spaces to speak openly or access professional help.
Ghana's corporate sector is being urged to invest more heavily in mental health support for young people grappling with depression, loss, and societal stressors. Premium bottled water company Bel Aqua has made this appeal, noting that many young people in the country lack safe spaces to openly discuss their mental health concerns or access professional assistance. This plea from the corporation arrives as it marks its 15th year of operations in Ghana.
Bel Aqua's current initiative is the fourth in a series focused on mental health awareness. The event brought together students, corporate employees, and members of the public to receive free, confidential consultations from psychologists and psychiatrists. Head of Marketing Chris Addo Sarkodie addressed the gathering, emphasizing the need for businesses to play a more proactive role.
"I think 60 per cent of the people that we've had today are coming from the universities. And if you listen to them sharing their testimonies and their challenges, I think as a country we need to pay attention to them," Sarkodie stated.
