Beck joined Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show to perform "In The Night," the lead single from his latest album, Ride Lonesome. During the performance, the full string section included Sacha Baron Cohen on cello. Cohen revealed that his first TV appearance was playing cello on Fanfare For Young Musicians, though it's unclear why he chose to play the instrument during Fallon's segment.
Beck also sat down with Fallon for an interview, discussing records that influenced him, such as Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs soundtrack, Mississippi John Hurt, Gary Wilson, and Kraftwerk. They reminisced about their past performances together in the 90s, with Beck mentioning that Hansel from Zoolander was partially based on him.
Beck claimed he turned down a cameo in Zoolander, with David Bowie taking the role instead. Ride Lonesome is set for release on Capitol. Cohen's Ali G movie and soundtrack album, executive produced by Andrew Watt and Hit-Boy, and featuring Jon Batiste, come out on Friday.
