Zahid cancels on mega ‘ummah unity’ event at Kelantan stadium
PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan says the Umno president has to attend a major party event in Melaka on the same day.
Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has pulled out of a large PAS-organized "ummah unity" event at Kota Bharu stadium in Kelantan this Friday, according to PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan. The event was expected to draw more than 100,000 people, with Zahid scheduled to deliver a speech alongside PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.
However, PAS reported that Zahid had to attend another Umno event in Melaka on the same day. Umno conveyed Zahid's apologies for his absence, explaining that the party is organizing a major event in Melaka on October 23. The Kelantan Umno chapter expressed its intention to organize another ummah unity event in Kelantan following the upcoming polls on November 14.
Despite Zahid's cancellation, Takiyuddin urged PAS members to ensure a strong turnout at the event, which aims to commemorate 36 years of Kelantan being governed by the Islamic party.
