Trump envoy to meet Putin as US hails Zelensky talks
The talks came as Washington and Kyiv sought to heal a rift following Donald Trump's announcement of a diesel deal with Russia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with US envoy Steve Witkoff in Oslo on Tuesday to hold constructive discussions ahead of a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday. Zelensky expressed gratitude for the resumption of US intelligence sharing on looming Russian strikes and the importance of early warning systems for civilian protection. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump urged Zelensky to make a deal with Russia, despite the escalating tensions and strained relations between the two nations.
