Tinubu Mourns Fasoranti, Pays Glowing Tribute to Late Afeniifere Leader

Nigeria's President Bola Tinubu has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, who passed away at the age of 100. In a 13-paragraph statement, Tinubu described Fasoranti as an icon, beacon of principle, and one of the last great titans of Chief Obafemi Awolowo's progressive family. The President expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the revered elder statesman and assured the Fasoranti family, people of Akure Kingdom, Ondo State, South-West Nigeria, and Afenifere family of Nigeria's condolences.

Tinubu highlighted Fasoranti's distinguished career spanning education, finance, and leadership, emphasizing his unwavering commitment to integrity, discipline, selflessness, and the progress of Nigeria. The President also recalled Fasoranti's centenary celebration in May 2023, which celebrated not just longevity but a legacy of honor. In 2022, Fasoranti had counseled Tinubu, predicting the latter's presidency, which has now come to pass.

The President expressed his hope that Fasoranti would have lived to witness the full dawn of economic growth and prosperity in the nation. However, he thanked God for the long life of service, grace, and fulfillment Fasoranti had lived. The President concluded by promising God's comfort to all who mourn the loss of the beloved leader and granting his family the fortitude to bear this great loss.
