Secy of State Marco Rubio: ‘On US-India deal… it’s down to certain words, phrases… We are weeks from finalising it… 99% of the work is done’

US Senator Marco Rubio doubts the likelihood of reaching a deal with Iran, expressing skepticism about the prospect of any agreement with the Iranian regime. During a recent television interview, Rubio criticized Iran for attacking commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, describing such behavior as unprecedented since World War II.

He further stated that Iran is using tactics reminiscent of Nazi submarines, calling for global condemnation of these actions. Rubio also pointed out that the Iranian regime is not skilled in negotiations and is controlled by hardline Shia clerics driven by religious motivations, making it extremely challenging to reach an agreement with them.

These comments come during Rubio's current visit to India, where he is engaging in discussions with Indian counterparts, focusing on strengthening energy cooperation and finalizing a bilateral trade agreement.
