Oyo to spend N4.28bn on December council elections

The Oyo State Government and 33 local governments will spend N4.278bn on elections, scheduled for December 29, 2026. State Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, disclosed this in a statement following a state Executive Council meeting. Oyo will allocate 60% of the election funding (N2.566,800,000,000) while the state government will contribute 40% (N1.711,200,000,000).

The local governments will also provide N437,446,393.58m for accreditation requirements of the Nursing Programme at Abiola Ajimobi Technical University. The Seyi Makinde administration has already spent over N3bn on the programme's equipment, and the council approved N6.744bn as the state government's 50% counterpart funding for constructing, renovating, and equipping the Oyo Annex of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology.
