Over 500 hypertension, 400 impacted earwax cases recorded during Sekyere Community Bank Health screening

Between August 14 and August 20, the Sekyere Community Bank PLC conducted a comprehensive health screening event in the Ashanti Region, in collaboration with Peace Specialty Hospital. The outreach, held across five bank branches – Mamponteng, Kenyasi, Kronom, Jamasi, and others, aimed to raise awareness, promote health, and provide essential medical services to the community.

Over 875 individuals participated, including bank staff, customers, and residents from Kwabre East Municipality, Suame Municipality, and Sekyere South District.

During the week-long event, medical professionals conducted blood sugar tests, ENT examinations, general health assessments, and offered free medical consultations. In addition to screenings, free medications were distributed to those in need of treatment. The records officer of Peace Specialty Hospital, Abraham Adu Sarfo, expressed admiration for the bank's staff and customers for their significant participation.

Hypertension emerged as the most frequently diagnosed condition, with over 500 affected individuals receiving professional medical guidance. Some participants, however, were referred to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment due to the severity of their health issues.

Another prevalent condition identified was impacted earwax, which affects the ear canal and can lead to varying degrees of hearing loss. Over 400 cases of impacted earwax were detected during the screenings. Participants who experienced hearing difficulties were referred for ear washing procedures and scheduled review appointments.

Michael Aidoo, the Chief Executive Officer of Sekyere Community Bank PLC, emphasized that this initiative is part of the bank's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) aimed at enhancing the well-being of its customers. Aidoo highlighted that healthy customers are better positioned to contribute positively to their families, businesses, and communities. He further stressed the bank's long-standing commitment to community development and national progress through various impactful social interventions.

Beneficiaries of the health screening expressed their deep gratitude to the bank for providing valuable health information and urged the management to make such events a regular occurrence.
