Jiran yang bikin semak

Toleransi hidup berjiran tidak bermaksud kita perlu terus berdiam diri apabila gangguan sama berulang tanpa rasa tanggungjawab.

Jiran yang bikin semak

Living in a neighborhood brings with it a variety of types of neighbors. There are kind neighbors who help others, gentle and easygoing. Then there are those we don't know well, but never cause any problems. Each group takes care of themselves. Some have known each other for years, simply waving and smiling without chatting. They never pressure others, doing what is right.

There are also those who prefer to ignore things, avoid confrontation. But as long as they don't cause trouble for others, what's the issue? The challenge arises when we have a neighbor who consistently causes trouble. Perhaps they suffer from an illness, always making others unhappy. Their home becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes, and they love making noise without regard for time.

We all make mistakes, but when corrected, they don't change. We, too, are at fault. It's not just them causing problems; their entire family does too. Their children aren't playing tricks, always bothering their friends. Their mother has a sharp tongue, always complaining. She can't stand seeing others less fortunate, and posts about it on social media.

Slowly, the entire neighborhood becomes agitated by their behavior, leading to a community meeting and possibly the intervention of a local leader or authority. However, the problem remains unsolved. They still refuse to change. When mediators are brought in to help, they only teach others. They demand patience. We need to show tolerance, as living with neighbors requires it.

Eventually, they turn around and act like a victim. Everyone blames them, and they cry foul. They even claim to have done good deeds for the community. It's not a fabrication. If we live in a village, rural area, or apartment complex, there are often such individuals. Sometimes, we don't understand how such people can exist in this world.

When everyone agrees and can live peacefully, they come to disrupt the peace. What joy can they find in life, we cannot envy them. We cannot blame them for being unable to see the truth. While living in a community, we are required to respect neighbors, maintain good relationships, and not cause harm to others. The good life is a two-way street.

One person cannot be asked to always show tolerance while another causes problems. Even small things, like not blocking the exit of a neighbor's house with a car or letting pets defecate in the street or on their neighbor's property, should be considered. During holidays, avoid burning trash when it's time to sleep. Children and elderly people with weak health can be affected.

We shouldn't burn waste so much smoke enters the neighbor's home. These are all things we can think about. But wait, how do they know their actions harm others but don't care? More troubling is if they benefit from their actions while others suffer the consequences. This is not a matter of awareness or common sense. It's about taking responsibility.

Rasulullah SAW said, "I swear by God, I do not believe! I swear by God, I do not believe! I swear by God, I do not believe!" When asked who that person is, He replied, "The one whose neighbor is not safe from their troubles." (Al-Bukhari, Hadith 6016) When someone is referred to as a neighbor, it's not limited to race or religion.

A neighbor is someone closest to us, part of the same group or community. Islam emphasizes the well-being of our neighbors, regardless of skin color or beliefs. However, the troublemaker persists. It's not just at home. In the classroom, there's usually a class clown or bully. At work, there's the complainer. Even at the global level, there are countries we call neighbors but who cause trouble.

Every year, our homes are filled with smoke due to their firecrackers. We complain, but they don't care. What can we do about them? This attitude of not caring about others can be stressful. We feel confused and overwhelmed. How long will this continue? When will they realize and change? Therefore, after venting our frustrations, let's pray to God to open their eyes and make them a little wiser.

Pray sincerely before it's too late. Before our safety and health deteriorate. It's not like this. I'm tired of this nonsense. Please, neighbors, free us from this suffocating darkness. We are getting too tired!
