On Monday's "The Tonight Show," Jimmy Fallon took aim at first lady Melania Trump, eliciting mixed reactions from the studio audience while recapping the short-lived tenure of White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia. The host began his monologue by noting the upcoming midterm elections and the rapid turnover of press secretaries under President Trump.
Fallon quipped, "Everyone’s talking about this, President Trump fired his new press secretary, Katie Zacharia, after just five days on the job. It’s not good when the edible arrangement you got on your first day is still edible on your last day." The audience's reaction to Fallon's jab at Melania Trump was mixed, as laughter, groans, and gasps could be heard.
Fallon then shifted focus to FBI Director Kash Patel, asking, "Five days. Kash Patel was like, 'Damn, I’ve had hangovers last longer than that.'" The comedian proceeded to read aloud the job application questions for the next press secretary hopeful, eliciting laughter from the crowd. Some of the questions included, "Are you free for the next five days?"
"Do you look a little like Ivanka?" and "Are you fluent in Spanish? If si, you’re already fired." Fallon concluded his quips by asking, "Are you available to train your replacement next week?" The White House did not respond to requests for comment regarding Fallon's comments.
