Cyberpunk 2077 Gets Surprise Official New Update Announcement From CD Projekt
CD Projekt has announced a surprise update to Cyberpunk 2077, due out this week.
CD Projekt has announced an unexpected update for Cyberpunk 2077, set to launch on October 22, 2026. The Cyberpunk 2077 Edgerunners 2 Update (2.5) appears to be themed after the Netflix animated series Edgerunners. The update will introduce new items and features, including content inspired by Edgerunners. Fans are hoping for substantial DLC with new content and even a new official quest from CD Projekt.
More details about the update are expected to be revealed on October 21, 2026, during a special episode of REDstreams, with patch notes to follow on the same day. Cyberpunk 2077 fans have been pushing for more meaningful DLC, and this update may be a positive sign for them. The game has sold around 40 million copies since its 2020 launch, with one expansion, Phantom Liberty, released in 2023.
CD Projekt has stated there are no plans for further Cyberpunk 2077 DLCs or expansions, leading to disappointment among fans. However, this new update may reignite interest in the game.
