A prisoner, Che Mohd Nazzaruddin, has been charged with the murder of another prisoner, Nor Mohd Helmi Sahari, while in Marang Prison, according to court documents. The case was initially heard on October 10th of this year at Marang Magistrate Court, with the original hearing scheduled for October 10th. The accused, 36-year-old Che Mohd Nazzaruddin Che Ros, stands accused of killing Nor Mohd Helmi, 38, in Zone 2, Room 10 of Marang Prison between 8:45 am and 9:15 am on August 24th last year.

He faces charges under Section 302 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which carries the death penalty or a maximum of 40 years in prison if found guilty.

Additionally, two other inmates, Mohd Fadli Che Mansor, 36, and Nor Dhitauddin Afiq Norwadi, 22, have been charged with causing injury to Nor Mohd Helmi in the same location and time frame. They pleaded not guilty during the separate proceedings. Both men are accused of violating Section 323 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which prescribes a prison sentence of up to one year, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both if found guilty.
