Abuja police nab eight one-chance suspects, three armed robbery suspects

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command in Abuja has apprehended eight suspects from a one-chance robbery gang and three others involved in separate armed robbery cases. Commissioner of Police Ahmed Sanusi made the announcement during a briefing for journalists. The eight members of the one-chance gang were arrested after investigating an incident involving a police officer's wife who was robbed of her phone and valuables following a taxi ride at AYA Roundabout on August 7, 2026.

The suspects allegedly stole her mobile phone and money, forcing her out of the moving vehicle before fleeing.

In an effort to unravel the criminal operation, Sanusi's command employed digital reconstructive technology to track all electronic transactions and the victim's mobile phone. This led to the apprehension of the eight suspects, who have been identified as Yunusa Sani, Ismail Mohammed, Abubakar Usman, Haruna Musa, Abdulrazaq Mohammed, Isah Abdulrahman, Isa Abdullahi, and Aliyu Shuaibu.

The police also recovered 21 mobile phones and three laptops, including the victim's phone, during the investigation. Haruna Musa, one of the suspects, specializes in altering the IMEI numbers of stolen devices to avoid detection.

Separately, Abuja police also arrested Chibuike Odeh, an armed robbery suspect, in the Daki-Biyu area of Jabi District. Odeh was apprehended following a robbery complaint reported to the Jabi Police Division on October 18, 2026. The victim, returning home from work, was attacked by Odeh with a knife, robbed of her handbag containing an iPhone and other valuables, and had her bank accounts emptied using her phone and ATM card.

A search of Odeh's residence led to the recovery of numerous items, including a knife, a face mask, and a voter's card.
