5 top new movies to stream this week on HBO Max, Disney+, Peacock and more (Oct. 20-26)

This week, streaming platforms HBO Max, Disney+, Peacock, and Shudder have some highly anticipated new movies to offer. The streaming week starts on October 20 and runs until October 26.

HBO Max and Disney+ both debut new releases on October 23. HBO Max's highlight is Olivia Wilde's "The Invite," a razor-sharp comedy-drama with Oscar potential, starring Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz, Edward Norton, and Wilde herself. Disney+, on the other hand, brings the live-action remake of "Moana," which, despite the live-action transition, still retains the original charm with its music and animated adventure storyline.

Peacock brings us "Finding Emily," a charming British rom-com. The film features strong chemistry between its leads and is enhanced by a musical soul, although non-Brits may need to watch with subtitles to understand the thick northern England accents.

Lastly, Shudder, the horror-focused streaming platform, presents "The Cycle." With a rare 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, this crime-thriller mystery is already gaining attention as a potential future cult classic. The movie follows an estranged daughter (Deborah Ann Woll) who unravels the mystery of her father's disappearance, which occurred 36 years ago.
