Wike meets Fubara supporters as peace talks intensify

Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike met with supporters of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Monday, stressing the importance of a bloc vote for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election. Wike believes that aligning with the federal government will bolster Rivers State's political influence, infrastructure development, and national relevance.

He urged party members and youth groups to set aside past grievances and rally behind Tinubu, emphasizing that political alliances should prioritize the state's interests. The minister cited achievements under the Tinubu administration, including high-profile federal appointments for Rivers State indigenes, and urged for a large voter turnout to secure more opportunities for the state, particularly its youth.

Wike also highlighted ongoing reconciliation efforts and cautioned against political friction, vowing that no genuine party member would be left behind. The meeting marked a turning point in the state's political landscape, with Ichemati, on behalf of Fubara's supporters, declaring their readiness to collaborate with Wike to deliver the state to Tinubu and other candidates in the Rainbow Coalition.
