West Bank: Israel arrests 10 suspects over settler attacks on US journalist, European diplomats

Israeli authorities have apprehended ten individuals suspected of attacking an American journalist and European diplomats during a recent settler violence incident in the West Bank. The suspects were apprehended at multiple locations and are said to have been involved in acts of violence, breaching a restricted military zone, and engaging in illegal construction.

Evidence and vehicles were also seized during the arrests. The attacks took place last week, with settler groups targeting Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine in Abu Falah and European diplomats in Taybeh. US Ambassador Mike Huckabee expressed satisfaction with the arrests, describing the act as a "despicable act of terror."

Israeli human rights group Yesh Din reported a significant increase in settler violence during the olive harvest season, with 269 documented incidents in the past 20 days alone. Levine, who was severely injured in the attack, praised her flak jacket and expressed gratitude for her survival. Israeli President Herzog condemned the attackers' actions, stating that they did not represent the values of the State of Israel.

Despite international condemnation, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office disputed the video evidence and accused the incidents of being part of a campaign to discredit Israel and its settlers.
