Tambang ECRL bermula RM125

Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL) has announced the launch of the Eastern Coast Railway Line (ECRL) from Gombak to Kota Bharu, with ticket prices starting at RM125 for transit services and RM147 for express services. The tickets are expected to be available in mid-November. The transit services will stop at all stations, while express services will only stop at four major stations: Gombak, Kota SAS, Kuala Terengganu, and Kota Bharu.

MRL has explained that a dynamic pricing mechanism will be used, with ticket prices varying based on travel time, demand, and seat availability.

The journey between Gombak and Kuala Terengganu will cost RM95 for transit and RM110 for express services, while the journey between Gombak and Kota SAS will cost RM60 for transit and RM68 for express services. MRL stated that the government has approved the plan to commence the construction of the railway line on October 16, ahead of the planned launch of passenger services in mid-December.

The government has also announced a 50% discount for children aged 2 to 12, senior Malaysian citizens aged 60 and above, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and government employees.

Passengers traveling from Gombak to Kota Bharu can expect their journey to take approximately four hours, compared to five hours for the transit service. MRL has said that there will be 12 daily services (six in each direction) from Monday to Thursday, increasing to 16 daily services (eight in each direction) from Friday to Sunday. Around 2.2 million seats are planned to be available by 2027.
