Police investigate Grolsch beer tasting contamination

Eleven individuals experienced adverse health effects after tasting water during a brewery tour at Grolsch's facility in Enschede on Saturday afternoon. The contamination has raised concerns among local authorities and the company itself. According to RTV Oost, local broadcaster RTV Oost, the water may have been contaminated with caustic soda, though Grolsch maintains that the water tap used was separate from their production processes.

Symptoms included nausea, vomiting, and potential internal burns to the throat, esophagus, and stomach. A police investigation is underway, with police and the labour inspectorate probing the incident. Grolsch stated they would not comment on possible causes until the investigation concludes.
