Nighttime Russian ballistic attack on Kyiv damages NEURC building

Over half a million Ukrainians were left without power after a massive Russian attack on critical infrastructure overnight, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The Russian strikes came in several waves, targeting energy facilities and disrupting power for at least 550,000 families. Zelensky noted that this was not the first such attack, as Russia had also targeted a medical clinic, a school, a metro station, and residential buildings.

The Ukrainian leader stated that Russia had launched 16 ballistic missiles and over 200 drones, including jet-powered Shahed drones. Zelensky expressed condolences to the families of the casualties resulting from the attacks. He emphasized that Ukraine never sought war and had positively responded to all peace attempts, including every ceasefire proposal.

Zelensky accused Russia of repeatedly resorting to ballistics, Shahed drones, and killings. He stressed the importance of accurately labeling Russia as the aggressor and supporting Ukraine's efforts to protect its citizens. Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed it had conducted a major strike on targets in Kyiv and the capital region, including military-industrial facilities, missile and drone storage sites, and data centers.
