NFR Introduces Technology-Driven On-Board Services In Five Trains

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has upgraded on-board services on five high-speed trains. This marks the second Zonal Railway in India to implement the initiative. The five trains include Kamakhya–SMVT Bengaluru Express, Guwahati–Kolkata Garib Rath Express, Dibrugarh–Mumbai LTT Express, New Jalpaiguri–Patna Vande Bharat Express, and New Jalpaiguri–Guwahati Vande Bharat Express.

The upgraded services were launched on October 14, 2026, in front of senior railway officials. On the same day, the Kamakhya–SMVT Bengaluru Express also received these enhancements at its starting point in Kamakhya. The Guwahati–Kolkata Garib Rath Express and Dibrugarh–Mumbai LTT Express had already started with these advanced services on October 10th and 11th, respectively.

The improved on-board services include regular cleaning of coaches and AC windows, improved toilet maintenance, efficient waste disposal, and prompt issue resolution. A dedicated team will address passenger complaints within two hours, escalating unresolved issues to higher railway authorities. The initiative also includes digital tracking, real-time feedback, and AI-based cleaning assessments to monitor service delivery and maintain high standards.

By integrating technology in housekeeping, digital monitoring, and rapid complaint handling, NFR aims to provide a cleaner, more comfortable, and enhanced travel experience for passengers.
