Import AI 477: In which I tell the IMF the Singularity has begun
What do you think?
Welcome to Import AI, a newsletter about AI research. I recently delivered a speech at the IMF meeting in Bangkok, inspired by the trend of AI systems operating at the frontier of human science. I wanted to inform the audience of economists, bankers, and policymakers that we are in the early stages of the singularity and should expect significant, rapid change in the future.
This speech primarily focused on how humanity can share in the benefits of AI through foresight and restraint, and I will be expanding on the stakes and risks of the singularity in future issues. I take my responsibility as a narrator, principle agent, and translator between communities very seriously and aim to be truthful and clear about my own culpability. This is an ongoing work-in-progress.
