Files by Google misses these two crucial features; one free app has both
There's no reason for Files by Google to be missing out
Files by Google, a staple on Google Pixel phones, has never been the greatest solution for managing files, despite its simplicity. While other file managers offer more utility, Google has chosen to keep Files by Google as its default. The app's biggest shortcomings are its limited cloud storage compatibility and lack of dual-pane view.
Users can only select certain cloud storage services from a drop-down menu, and the app does not allow for a side-by-side folder view, making file management cumbersome. Although Samsung's My Files app offers better cloud integration, it's still a separate app that shouldn't be necessary for a phone's default file manager. Additionally, Files by Google lacks a storage saver tool that detects and clears out unnecessary files, making it less efficient compared to other apps.
Despite its ubiquity, Files by Google needs to incorporate these crucial features for a more seamless user experience.
