Bhopal MD Drug Racket Linked To Nigerian Supplier, Alleged Lawyer Among Three Arrested

In the city of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, authorities have apprehended a third accused individual in connection with a mephedrone (MD) drug trafficking racket. The primary suspect, Mukul Dholpure, an alleged lawyer, has admitted to procuring drugs from a Nigerian supplier via a Delhi-based drug distributor and distributing them within Bhopal with the assistance of two accomplices.

Mukul directly acquired drug shipments from the Delhi supplier and compensated Divyanshu and Ritik for their role in supplying the prohibited substances to Bhopal. Divyanshu was previously apprehended, while Ritik was detained on Monday. Authorities are currently seeking another individual connected to the network in Delhi. On Monday, a Crime Branch team conducted a search of Mukul's residence in Jahangirabad, following his claim that he had concealed drugs there.

However, it has not been disclosed whether any drug paraphernalia or additional evidence was seized during the search. Mukul was arrested late Friday night near the rear entrance of the district court, following a tip-off that an individual was prepared to deliver narcotics. Upon search, law enforcement recovered approximately four grams of MD, estimated to be worth around Rs 1 lakh.

During interrogation, Mukul identified himself as a lawyer practicing at the Bhopal District Court. Police noted that the two associates were frequent patrons of pubs and lounges in the city. Mukul had been placed under police custody for two days, which concluded on Monday. In addition to the arrests, Bhopal Traffic Diversion has been implemented on Dussehra, prohibiting heavy vehicles from 2 PM on October 20, with route modifications near the Ravan Dahan grounds.
