8 pakej Pan Borneo Sabah dibuka sebelum hujung tahun ini
Timbalan Ketua Menteri Sabah Dr Joachim Gunsalam berkata pembukaan seksyen yang siap akan dilaksanakan sementara kerja pembinaan di bahagian lain diteruskan.
Eight sections of the Pan Borneo Highway in Sabah will open early before the end of the year, according to Dr Joachim Gunsalam, Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah. The development, which spans a total of 177km, aims to provide the people of Sabah with better roads as soon as possible. The construction of certain sections will continue while other parts are being upgraded, following a directive from the Auditor General's Report 2026 Series 2 on October 5th.
Dr Gunsalam emphasized the focus on completing the roads quickly for public use. Six sections, totalling 135.8km, have already received the Separa Land Use Certificate (CPO), covering routes from Sindumin to Beaufort and Bongawan to Tebobon and Moynod to Sapi Nangoh. As of September 25th, four sections, covering 41.5km, are now complete, including WP05 Papar to Donggongon, WP15 Tawau to Semporna, WP21 Lahad Datu Bypass, and WP27 Kampung Lot M to Sandakan Batu 32.
Dr Gunsalam stated that eight sections, totalling 161.8km, are expected to receive the Practical Certification (CPC) in 2027, confirming the completion of the entire construction project. The progress of 11.4% of the work has been reported by the Auditor General's Report, covering four out of the 35 sections, which have been fully submitted by September 31st.
Physical progress on site as of September 25th reached 89.54% for Phase 1A, 38.87% for WP09, and 24.76% for Phase 1B. The site clearance status shows 99.79% for Phase 1A, 96.8% for WP09, and 79.43% for Phase 1B. Dr Gunsalam explained that the delays were caused by changing the execution model from a project delivery partner (PDP) to a conventional method, which started on September 22nd, 2019, and required new procurement and contract processes.
Regarding the audit warning, Dr Gunsalam stated that his team adhered to and strengthened the approval mechanism to ensure a clear and timely process without compromising governance.
