Pemimpin Amanah desak Umno jawab isu surat kepada Penyimpan Mohor Besar Raja-Raja

Umno Presidente Bawa, Mujahid Yusof Rawa, has demanded that Umno explain whether they are aware or agree with a letter sent by Negeri Sembilan State Chief Minister Ismail Lasim to the Penyimpan Mohor Besar Raja-Raja, amid allegations that the letter undermines the authority of Tuanku Muhriz, Tuanku Munawir. The presidential assistant claimed that the issue highlights a serious breach of relationship between the palace and state administration, stemming from the letter's assertion that the exco's decision is valid and that Tuanku Muhriz is no longer the Yang Dipertuan Besar.

Mujahid questioned the action claimed to have challenged Tuanku Muhriz's position, even though the Attorney-General's Department had confirmed that the state chief minister and exco lack the authority to diminish or declare the vacancy of the Yang Dipertuan Besar's office. He emphasized that the state government's refusal to acknowledge the proclamation is due to it being deemed invalid and unconstitutional.

Mujahid questioned Umno's stance on whether they support the exco's acknowledgment of the proclamation and why Ismail changed his stance on Tuanku Muhriz. He also questioned the leadership's stance on maintaining the institution of Malay kingship when involving other parties but remaining silent when the party leader himself is linked to the issue.

Mujahid urged Ismail to immediately clarify and retract the letter if its contents are as alleged by Tuanku Muhriz, and to apologize to Tuanku and the people of Negeri Sembilan and Malaysia for his mistaken attitude towards the Malay kingship institution. He also called for Umno to take strict disciplinary action against Ismail if he fails to provide a convincing explanation and restore relations with the palace.

If Ismail fails to restore his position, he would be deemed unfit for the role. The position of state chief minister is not an Umno privilege; it is a constitutional mandate entrusted to the Yang Dipertuan Besar and must be accountable to the people and the State Assembly. Mujahid stressed that Umno must now choose whether to uphold the monarchy institution or its own leadership.

Videos posted on social media earlier showed Tuanku Muhriz addressing a group of individuals, informing them that Ismail had sent a letter to the Penyimpan Mohor Besar Raja-Raja, clarifying that he is no longer the Yang Dipertuan Besar. Subsequently, Tuanku Muhriz questioned the purpose of Ismail's desire to meet him.
