NDC must dissociate itself from Obuasi SHTS head over sexual abuse allegations – Vicky Bright

Legal expert Victoria Bright has called on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to distance itself from the head of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS) amid allegations of sexual abuse against him. Ms Bright, speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile programme, argued that individuals facing serious allegations should not be empowered politically while the matter is being investigated. She questioned why the headmaster would seek political office given the allegations, stating that it defies logic and reasoning.

Bright emphasized that people facing serious abuse allegations should not be placed in positions of greater power or influence. She stressed that the governing party should dissociate itself from the headmaster, suggesting that such individuals should not be empowered to perpetrate further acts. Her comments come as public concern grows over the sexual abuse allegations involving the head of SHTS.

The lawyer called for a fair and thorough investigation into the headmaster's conduct, focusing on protecting students and establishing the facts. She described the allegations as a serious breach of trust and demanded a full investigation into what other people knew about the incidents and what they did next. If the investigation found the headmaster guilty, Bright said he should face prosecution and imprisonment.
