AIADMK will rise like a phoenix, says EPS at event held to mark party’s 55th founding day
The founding day was celebrated at the party’s headquarters in Royapettah
AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami delivered a powerful speech at the party's 55th founding day celebration held at the headquarters in Royapettah, Chennai. He paid tribute to the party's founder and former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa by placing floral tributes to statues honoring former Chief Ministers MGR and Jayalalithaa. Drawing a parallel between the party's journey and the mythical phoenix, Palaniswami declared that AIADMK would rise again, capturing power in the same manner as the legendary bird.
Addressing the media, former Minister Agri S.S. Krishnamurthy criticized former Minister S.P. Velumani's comments suggesting the readmission of those who had left the party. Velumani had proposed that O. Panneerselvam should be considered for rejoining AIADMK, despite his defection and subsequent victory on the DMK's symbol. Krishnamurthy expressed disbelief at Velumani's stance, arguing that such an approach would invite further defections, including S. Muthusamy, S. Regupathy, and P.K.
Sekarbabu. He dismissed Velumani's talk of a BJP alliance, stating that Mr. Velumani's opposition was born out of enmity rather than genuine interest in bringing back MGR and Jayalalithaa.
