Tiada kecacatan penyelenggaraan dikesan CAAM, kata operator helikopter

Pengarah Urusan Kumpulan Layang Layang Aerospace Johan Poong Abdullah stated that initial reports on the helicopter incident found no irregularities or issues in the management of the company's aircraft fleet. Speaking to FMT, Abdullah emphasized that the preliminary investigation report by Malaysia's Civil Aviation Authority (CAAM) confirmed that all documentation related to the helicopter's operations was in order. He added that further details would be included in the final report.

Abdullah highlighted that the pilot involved had the necessary licenses, qualifications, and endorsements to operate the flight according to existing regulations. The pilot possessed a valid medical certificate and was medically fit to conduct the flight. Additionally, the helicopter had been certified to fly during the period and held a valid registration and valid flight authorization.

On Monday, Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook informed the Dewan Rakyat that CAAM had raised three concerns during its investigation of Layang Layang's operations between September 1 and 4, followed by a follow-up investigation completed on September 6, two days before the incident occurred. Loke mentioned that all three issues concerned the company's management of personnel, unclear records of certain scheduled inspections, and insufficient procedures for continuing operations after emergencies.

He added that two of these issues had been resolved while the third, related to the calculation of the company's workforce requirements, was pending final approval from CAAM at the time of the crash.

Abdullah noted that these investigations were standard checks for all pilots before license renewal, adding that the three issues did not relate to the company's aircraft maintenance work. He stated that the company's operating license had been renewed for a further three-year period following the follow-up inspection relevant to the crash.

"The concerns regarding personnel planning and the unclear inspection records have already been addressed, and CAAM accepts our explanations and adjustments, he said. 'Concerning the company's calculation of its workforce requirements, we have explained that Layang Layang has sufficient personnel to manage its operations in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak.

Abdullah added that Layang Layang is proud to provide safe and reliable air services and always emphasizes best practices to build public confidence in the company.
