Steven Soderbergh Will Help Matt Reeves Finish ‘The Batman II’
Soderbergh will oversee the rest of principal photography on the film after Reeves stepped away to tend to a family matter
The Batman Part II is set to resume filming, with Steven Soderbergh taking over as the director from Matt Reeves. The Hollywood Reporter announced the change on Thursday, revealing that Reeves has stepped away for a family matter and will remain involved "from a distance" as Soderbergh completes principal photography. Soderbergh, an Oscar winner, praised Reeves' work on the superhero sequel, describing it as "stunning; intentional, specific, and rigorously coherent."
The film, starring Robert Pattinson as a melancholic Batman, is still set for a February 2028 release. Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Jayme Lawson, Charles Dance, Gil Perez-Abraham, and Sebastian Koch are among the cast members.
