Right-hand drive Nissan Patrol enters production ahead of 2027 South Africa debut
The long-awaited Y63 will debut first in Australia and then in South Africa around the first quarter of next year.
Nissan has introduced the right-hand drive version of the Nissan Patrol ahead of its South African launch in 2027. The Australian division first revealed images of the right-hand drive model being assembled at the company's Kyushu Plant in Japan. The Australian market will be the first to receive the new Y63 Patrol, which will be available in six trim levels - Ti, Ti+, Ti-L, Ti-L+, Pro-4X, and Ti-L Reserve.
All variants will be powered by the VR35DDTT 3.5-litre twin-turbo petrol V6, which produces 317kW/700Nm, an increase of 19kW/140Nm compared to the normally aspirated 5.6-litre V8 in the outgoing Y62. A new push-button operated nine-speed automatic gearbox has replaced the Y62's seven-speed transmission. The Y63 Patrol, which has a ground clearance of 244mm, will increase to 314mm with the optional adaptive air suspension.
The vehicle will also feature a drive mode selector with six modes - Eco, Standard, Sport, Sand, Mud, and Rock. Scheduled to arrive in South Africa two years after its global debut in Abu Dhabi, the Y63 Patrol will be the second right-hand drive vehicle in the country after the Australian market. Nissan South Africa's Managing Director, Juan Wheeler, has indicated that the vehicle will launch at the end of the company's 2026 fiscal year, potentially in March or April.
