PhD Psychology Scholarships in Canada With CAD $40,000 Annual Funding

The University of British Columbia in Canada is currently accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Botany program, offering full-time doctoral students a minimum annual funding package of CAD 40,000. This funding guarantee covers the first four years of study, amounting to a minimum total of CAD 160,000. Both Canadian and international students, including those from Pakistan, are eligible for the funding once they secure admission to the program. Applicants typically need a Master of Science degree in Botany or a related field, demonstrating research ability or potential. In some cases, exceptional students may be eligible for direct doctoral admission from a bachelor's degree. UBC also allows eligible master's students to transfer into the PhD program under its graduate regulations.

Applicants generally need to have an academic average in the B+ range, equivalent to approximately 76% according to UBC's grading system. However, individual departments may have higher admission standards. Pakistani applicants must meet UBC's specific doctoral requirements for their country. Recognized qualifications include eligible master's degrees, M.Phil. degrees, and master's honours qualifications with first-class or first-division standing.

English language proficiency is required for international applicants whose previous universities primarily taught in languages other than English. UBC accepts IELTS Academic scores of 6.5 overall, with at least 6.0 in each component, or a Duolingo English Test score of 125. For TOEFL iBT exams taken before January 21, 2026, an overall score of 92 with at least 22 in each component is required.

For tests taken on or after that date, an overall score of 4.5 under the revised six-point scoring system is needed, with at least 4.5 in Reading, Writing, and Listening, and 4.0 in Speaking.

Required documents for the application include academic transcripts from all previous post-secondary institutions and two letters of recommendation. Candidates should provide their referees' contact information through UBC's online graduate application system.
