Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan Compete on Game Shows Hosted by David Byrne in the Retro Video for ‘Expectations’ Remix

Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan are set to collaborate on a remix of "Expectations," a track from Rodrigo's Billboard 200-topping third studio album. The duo announced their plans on October 13, with both the song and its accompanying visuals slated to release on October 15. This joint effort comes two days after Rodrigo shared an audio snippet of Roan's voice on social media, where Roan excitedly proclaimed, "Oh, Olivia does remixes now."

Rodrigo expressed her enthusiasm about the collaboration, writing, "I'm beyond excited to share this news." A striking cover art for the remix features the two pop stars posing atop a retro convertible, dressed in Cyndi Lauper-esque 1980s fashion. Rodrigo and Roan have been friends for years, having collaborated with producer Dan Nigro for many years.

In August, Roan performed at Rodrigo's inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival, which raised $20 million for charities supporting women and girls. Roan previously opened a show for Rodrigo at her Sour Tour in 2022 and was part of the Guts World Tour two years later. After Roan gained global fame in 2024, the two reunited on Rodrigo's Guts tour to perform "Hot to Go!" in Los Angeles.

Rodrigo praised Roan's influence on her personal growth in the industry, stating that she appreciates Roan's advice on maintaining authenticity in a challenging environment.
