Fiabci-Ghana inaugurated to promote professionalism and global collaboration in real estate sector

The International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) has established its Ghana Chapter to foster global collaboration and elevate professional standards within the country's real estate sector. The inauguration ceremony, themed "Beyond the Individual," marked the appointment of Dr. James Condua Orleans-Lindsay, Founder and CEO of JL Properties, as the inaugural president of FIABCI-Ghana.

Founded in Paris in 1948, FIABCI serves as a global business network connecting professionals from various disciplines, including developers, architects, engineers, and financiers, among others. The launch of the Ghana Chapter is poised to enhance Ghana's presence in the international real estate community and facilitate new opportunities for investment, knowledge sharing, and professional growth.

Jointly established by the Ghana Real Estate Professionals Association and the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association, FIABCI-Ghana aims to unite industry stakeholders and link Ghana's sector to global expertise and investment prospects. Dr. Orleans-Lindsay outlined five key areas of focus for the chapter: strengthening advocacy and visibility, promoting research and innovation, supporting national development, institutionalizing an annual developers' forum, and organizing an international FIABCI-Ghana conference.

The chapter will also seek representation on relevant governmental and international bodies to contribute meaningfully to policy-making and national development. Addressing Ghana's housing deficit of approximately 1.8 million units, Dr. Orleans-Lindsay emphasized the need for collaborative efforts involving the government, private developers, financial institutions, and other stakeholders to address the challenge.

He urged industry professionals to form stronger partnerships with the government and other entities to augment housing delivery and improve access to affordable accommodation. Dr. Orleans-Lindsay, serving as President of the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association, committed to providing ethical and transformative leadership for the newly established FIABCI-Ghana.

He highlighted the redevelopment of the former Achimota dumpsite and quarry into a residential estate as proof that responsible investment, innovation, and efficient land use can revitalize abandoned spaces and foster sustainable urban growth. Additionally, the chapter pledged to pursue strategic partnerships and initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to contribute to Africa's housing and real estate transformation.

"Our commitment remains unwavering in ensuring the growth and transformation of FIABCI-Ghana and its essential role in shaping Africa's real estate and housing landscape," Dr. Orleans-Lindsay concluded.
