Fatal Senawang crash: Lorry rammed into JPJ car during roadside inspection, police say

On October 16, a tragic accident unfolded on the North-South Expressway near Senawang, resulting in the death of a Road Transport Department (JPJ) officer. The incident occurred when a lorry carrying dry food products veered off control and collided with a JPJ car and another lorry during an inspection. Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad revealed that the two JPJ personnel were assessing a motoloader, which was transporting a cabin load, on the emergency lane at Kilometer 256.1.

As the lorry approached from behind at approximately 10:30 pm, it lost control and crashed into the rear of the JPJ car and the motoloader. The 42-year-old JPJ officer succumbed to his head injuries at the crash site, while his 32-year-old colleague sustained serious head injuries and suffered injuries to various parts of his body.

Both sets of victims were taken to Tuanku Ja’afar Seremban Hospital for treatment. The two drivers of the involved lorries, aged 44 and 48, also sustained leg and body injuries and were receiving care at the hospital's emergency department. Police are currently investigating the incident under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact Investigating Officer Inspector Syakinah Ahmad at 06-6033394 or visit the nearest police station to aid the investigation.
