Nigerian activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has urged presidential candidates Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso to step down from the race, stating that they should do so if they are not working for President Bola Tinubu's re-election. Adeyanju, speaking on X, suggested that a vote for Obi and Kwankwaso would be a vote for Tinubu, as he believes they were working for the president ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Yet, Kwankwaso defended his running mate, claiming that Obi is a popular figure in the South and that Northerners are being urged to support Tinubu. Furthermore, Kwankwaso disclosed his efforts to persuade Fulani groups to encourage Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, to withdraw from the race.
