Cardinals’ Trey McBride gets real on Marvin Harrison Jr. trade – ‘Part of the business’

In a press conference on Wednesday, former Arizona Cardinals teammate Trey McBride discussed the recent trade of Marvin Harrison Jr. to the Houston Texans. McBride said that he believed the coaching staff and team management handled the situation well, informing the players before the news hit the media. McBride acknowledged that losing a talented player like Harrison Jr. is always challenging, but the reality of the business of the NFL sometimes necessitates such moves.

"Marvin was a really good player, a huge part of this team," McBride stated. "When he left, it stinks, but you gotta find a way to move on and grow as a football team." Houston sent Arizona two 2027 NFL Draft selections—a second-round pick and a sixth-round pick—in exchange for Harrison and a 2027 sixth-round selection. Initially drafted by the Cardinals, Harrison Jr. hoped to become a key part of the team's passing offense.

However, his production declined in his rookie season and again in his second year, resulting in just 62 receptions for 885 yards and eight touchdowns in his first full season. Following four games with the Cardinals in 2026, Harrison Jr.'s production was minimal, with only five receptions for 85 yards and one touchdown. In his new team, Harrison Jr. has the chance to start anew and possibly recover his NFL career.

Additionally, the trade reunites Harrison Jr. with his former Ohio State teammate and C.J. Stroud, the quarterback of the Houston Texans.
