Suame MP John Darko denies involvement in SIC, equity savings and loans settlement

Suame Member of Parliament (MP) John Darko has steadfastly denied any role in the recent settlement between SIC Savings and Loans and Equity Savings and Loans, stating that he did not contribute to altering a court decision in favor of SIC. This stance emerged following an interrogation by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) on October 13, 2026, as part of their ongoing investigations into the financial institutions.

In a press release dated October 14, Darko's legal representatives, Darko, Keli-Delataa & Co., revealed that he met with EOCO investigators after being invited to assist with their inquiries. The questioning centered on Darko's capacity as legal counsel for Equity during its legal dispute with SIC over an unpaid investment. It also addressed Darko's tenure on Equity’s board from 2015 to 2023.

Their firm's contribution was confined to litigation and the recuperation of a portion of the court-awarded sums to SIC. The statement emphasized that the firm was unaware of Equity's decision to sell land attached by court to secure the judgment to a third party, ECOSWISS. Furthermore, they highlighted that they had ceased providing legal services to Equity due to unpaid legal fees prior to any events following the court judgment.

The lawyers affirmed that Darko had resigned from Equity’s board by September 2023 and had no involvement in any decision to compromise the court judgment. They firmly rejected any allegations of participation in a scheme to deprive SIC of the advantages of the court awards. The statement expressed the firm's commitment to the ongoing investigations and their readiness to provide further assistance to EOCO regarding Darko's role and that of their firm in the SIC and Equity matter.

They commended EOCO's investigators for their professionalism and the courtesy extended to the MP. The firm affirmed that both Darko and the firm acted with integrity and professionalism throughout their representation of Equity. This statement was signed by K.
