‘Seronok dengar BN diramal menang besar di Melaka’, kata Ahmad Maslan

Ahmad Maslan expressed his delight that Barisan Nasional (BN) is believed to have a strong chance of winning a significant number of seats in the Melaka state election, PRN Melaka. However, he reminded the party not to become overconfident as the election day approaches on November 14. As the former head of DAP, Ong Kian Ming, predicted, BN has the potential to add three to four parliamentary seats from the 21 it gained in the 2021 PRN.

Maslan, however, pleaded with BN not to be overconfident and urged them to engage with voters every day and night.

Ong had previously predicted that BN would retain 21 seats and potentially gain three to four more, based on public sentiment and momentum. He also expected BN to capture one or two seats from Pakatan Harapan (PH). He mentioned that two PH constituencies that could potentially lose are Bukit Katil, held by former Chief Minister Adly Zahari, and a strong DAP stronghold in Ayer Keroh.

Maslan highlighted that BN has several advantages, including unity, diversity among the choices, and a strong track record in government performance in Melaka. Meanwhile, another Umno MKT member, Nur Jazlan Mohamed, said that a big win for BN in Melaka could influence future election considerations. He noted that a BN victory with an additional two or three parliamentary seats would be a jab at PH and could further strain the relationship between the two parties in the unity government.

"If Ong's prediction comes true, this means the end of PH in Melaka," he said. "It seems the former DAP leader's prediction is more confident in Umno's strength compared to PH leaders, which will further strain the relationship between BN and PH in the upcoming unity government."
