Rahul, Priyanka Gandhi Protest At India Gate With Parents Of Uttarakhand Murder Victim Ankita Bhandari

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, along with other Congress officials, met the parents of Ankita Bhandari at India Gate in Delhi on Wednesday. Ankita was murdered in Uttarakhand in 2022, and her parents are protesting against BJP leader Dushyant Kumar Gautam's appointment as Sikkim's Governor. The family has appealed to President Droupadi Murmu to halt Gautam's appointment until the Central Bureau of Investigation completes its inquiry into the case.

Virendra Singh Bhandari, Ankita's father, urged the President not to appoint Gautam Governor until the investigation is finished. Soni Devi, Ankita's mother, expressed her deep hurt upon learning of Gautam's appointment and requested that the President, as a woman, empathize with the family's pain. She also urged the President to put the appointment on hold until the CBI investigation into Gautam's alleged misconduct is complete.
