NBBF players’ rep targets basketball revival

Professor Lucky Abubakar Aliyu, the newly elected players' representative on the Nigerian Basketball Federation board, expressed optimism for the revival of basketball in Nigeria. A former player, security expert, and Assistant Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Aliyu, spoke after securing the position at the Bentley Hotel in Abuja.

His priorities for the next four years include youth development, grassroots activities, and efforts to revitalize the Nigerian basketball scene. Aliyu believes the new board presents an opportunity to rebuild the sport, emphasizing programs for young players across the nation. He expressed excitement for the game and reassured stakeholders that the federation will have a vibrant board, dedicated to the love of basketball.

Aliyu stressed that the sport must be nurtured from the grassroots level to ensure the national team's resurgence. "The game of basketball will come alive now. We need to develop from the grassroots so that the national team will come back. So do not worry, we have everything in stock for basketball," Aliyu stated.
