Two men were apprehended by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in an effort to uncover a suspected counterfeit drinks factory in Lagos. The facility was discovered at Zamfara Plaza, located within the BBA Trade Fair Complex. The operatives seized drinks that had been relabeled, including popular energy drinks such as Bullet Energy Drink and alcoholic beverages like Don Julio tequila and Jameson whiskey.
The video footage shared by the agency's X handle showcased the facility, featuring bottles, chemicals, and packaging materials. Authorities claim that these suspects targeted bars and nightclubs, selling the counterfeit products to businesses for further distribution. The NAFDAC operative expressed concern over the seriousness of such operations, warning that these counterfeit products could harm the health of Nigerians.
The agency has previously seized and arrested distributors and retailers involved in the sale of prohibited products in various markets throughout Lagos State.
